 
Pegasus bridge :
On the night of the 6th of June, elements of the 6th
British Airborne led by Major Howard, took control of the famous Pegasus bridge
and it’s sister bridge nearby : “Ham and Jam”! This heroic action allowed the
British to ensure the security of the eastern flank of the Allied landings in
Normandy.
SWORD beach :
7.30am, the landing of the 3rd British Infantry Division along with
177 free French soldiers of the Kieffer commando ; Although the British Forces
had attained most of their Dday objectives, Caen was far from being captured…
JUNO beach :
“The Canadian beach”, devoted to the Queen’s own Rifles of Canada and the
Regiment de la Chaudière. Let’s pay a visit to “the Canadian house” and the new
Juno beach museum..

Arromanches :
Learning from the disaster of Dieppe (August 1942) it was impossible to capture
intact an enemy held port, the British, under the initiative of Winston
Churchill, have decided to bring their own artificial harbors..

Longues sur mer :
One of the best preserved German batteries all along the 80 kilometers of coast
of the landing sector ; the German battery of Longues s/mer was composed of four
guns of 152mm caliber, capable of firing as far as Omaha beach (8 miles west)
and Gold beach (5 miles east)… Two of these guns are still in their bunkers
since 1944.
